Our first 4th....

....as married people!

I originally had some funny/scandalous sentence about fireworks and being newlyweds written here, but Jake vetoed it.

This first picture was actually taken on July 7th up in Sandy. Jake's uncle Gary and aunt Michelle invited us over for a BBQ and fireworks in the street! They have 4 sweet little ones who we played with all evening and got to watch them light their sparklers and swirl them around in between Mark and Jake setting up bigger fireworks in the street.

Here we are the morning of the 4th! We headed over to Mark's, who lives about 1.5 blocks from University Ave, where the Freedom Festival parade is. We watched bagpipes, high school bands, the Silver Band (my favorite, made up of older folks who play instruments riding in a big fancy wagon), Cosmo and his dunk team, and lots of pageant queens! It was so darn hot so we decided to have a BBQ and swim all afternoon.

That night, Mark ditched us to go see Carrie Underwood at Stadium of Fire with a free ticket he got from some pretty girl (I'm not bitter). Jake and I walked up to the grass in front of the temple with our new camping chairs, a big bowl of popcorn, and some yummy fruit to watch the fireworks coming from the stadium. We could see lots of different firework shows from all over the valley, but the best one was the finale from the Stadium of Fire! My good friend and former roommate, Shelbey's dad did the fireworks for them this year, and it was definitely the best yet. We loved it!

Here are some of the highlights!
